Trying to build muscle mass is hard enough for most people. For those with a high metabolism, it’s even worse. The reason why it’s harder to gain weight with a fast metabolism is that your body is burning so many calories so quickly that there is little left to feed the muscles with. They just don’t have anything to grow on.
This is a frustrating problem and I want to help. In this article, I’d like to share a few simple and effective tips that you need to apply in order to build muscles with a fast metabolism. If you feel like you just can’t gain weight, this is an article that’s going to help you a lot.
Consume more calories
As you naturally burn a lot of calories, you need to consume a lot more as well. You have to increase your calorie intake by eating more food. How much is difficult to know for sure as each person is different. Try adding 400 calories each day and see if you start to gain weight. If you don’t, add 400 calories more and so on. Bear in mind that the type of calories is important as well. Don’t stuff yourself with apple pies with cream on top as you will only get fat. I’ll go over some recommended foods in a moment.
Foods to gain weight with a fast metabolism
You need to give your body the right calories to provide strong building blocks for your muscle tissue to grow. You have to eat a balanced and nutritious diet with sufficient quantities of high quality protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Here are some food options:
Protein – Eggs, chicken breast, tuna.
Carbohydrates – Wild rice, quinoa, whole wheat bread, vegetables, and fruit.
Fat – Olive oli, avocado, almonds, wallnuts, flax seeds, fish.
Specifically, you need to increase the amount of protein that you eat as this nutrient is the most important building block of your muscles. Don’t over do it but try increasing your protein intake gradually and see how your body responds to it.
You can’t eat more calories and expect to gain the right weight without training correctly. To gain weight with a high metabolism, you have to lift heavy weights. This will create the proper muscle stimulation and “force” your muscles to grow to be able to stand the kind of strain you place on them. Don’t do anything crazy. You need to increase your workout load gradually and you will see results.
Combine the eating tips with the heavier workouts and you I’m sure you’ll start gaining weight soon.
